The angels present on the Sant'Angelo bridge in Rome show men the instruments of Christ's Passion.
The statues of the angels were commissioned by Pope Clement IX in 1667 and were placed on the bridge in 1670. They were made by students of Gian Lorenzo Bernini under his direction, with the exception of the two angels bearing the INRI cartouche and the crown of thorns sculpted by Bernini himself.
